Non-Special Loudspeakers as Speech Test Sources in Natural Acoustics Speech Intelligibility Investigations

Objective speech intelligibility estimations undertaken in natural acoustics communications (NAS) scenarios require the utilization of a source that approximates acoustic characteristics human talker. Only limited number special sources conform to specifications relevant guidelines are available market; however, they can be deemed expensive by professional practitioners and other users. Non-special affordable loudspeakers often used NAS investigations place standardized without knowledge their suitability results validity. This study aims examine range representative common non-special as potential alternative indicative or pilot investigations. Frequency response Speech Transmission Index Public Address (STIPA) experimental obtained from reference were compared against various measured utilizing diverse real-world combinations conditions under controlled laboratory conditions.
